Now and then some articles appear regarding the menace caused by plastics to the environment.It is felt more in towns and cities, because it blocks the drainages and water ways causing scarcity down stream and flooding and inundation in the up stream. Over flowing sewage produces filthy smell and becomes breeding places for mosquitoes and disease causing germs.

Every one knows the problem and civic bodies take action to stop usage of plastics especially carry bags which are the main cause of the trouble.

Plastic is, no doubt, a wounder material but it should be handled correctly. it can be recycled is a plus point. It is used in place pf paper for which we have to cut trees from the forest. At present we have enough or more than enough material that can be recycled. But we are allowing manufacturer more new materials. And here lies the problem. Once used plastic materials are thrown in the streets and drainages. If the manufacturers are permitted only for recycling the material available one way it can be controlled. Instead if we allow manufacturers of paper bags once again we have to cut trees for paper making. There by reducing the forest area which is vital for climatic control and rain. recent invention of bio-degradable plastic can be encouraged and utilizes proudently so that forest wealth is protected and the menace of non bio-degradable plastics can be controlled or eliminated. Every thing is not only in the hands of policy makers, we too have responsibility.
